A prolonged heatwave has gripped many parts of China in recent weeks, bringing serious challenges for outdoor workers. In Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi Province, indoor venues such as banks and shops have set up "caring stations" – air-conditioned rest spots where outdoor workers can take a break from the sweltering heat. These stations provide free drinking water, phone charging, basic medicine and other conveniences.
